The Power of Right Now: Returning to Presence Through Meditation

We often chase healing in the future or grieve what's already passed. But the doorway to truth is always open—right now. Here's how I return to it.

By Solanon

We’re always trying to get somewhere.

To become something.
To undo what was done.
To fix, heal, finish, complete.

But lately, I’ve come to realize:

The peace I’m chasing doesn’t exist in the future.
It only exists here. Now. In this breath.

The present moment isn’t a concept.
It’s a portal—to clarity, to calm, to the part of you that was never broken.

And yet... it’s so easy to forget.

Why We Leave the Moment

We leave the present because it feels unsafe.

The past drags us into regret.
The future tempts us with illusion or fear.
And the now?
It’s raw. Honest. Quiet.
And in that quiet… our true self begins to speak.

That’s why meditation matters.
Not because it “fixes” you—
But because it teaches you how to stay.

How I Practice

I used to think meditation meant silencing my thoughts.
Now I know better.

Meditation is not a war against your mind.
It’s an invitation to witness it—with kindness.

When I sit in stillness, I don't try to be spiritual.
I just notice.

  • My breath.
  • The ache in my chest.
  • The loop in my thoughts.
  • The whisper underneath all of it that says: “I’m still here.”

That whisper?
That’s the real you.
And you can only hear it right now.

A Tool That Helped Me

There’s an app called The Way that I’ve been using regularly.
It’s simple, spacious, and doesn’t preach.
It helps guide me back when I’m scattered, overwhelmed, or spiraling.

Some days, it’s a 3-minute practice.
Other days, I’ll sit for 20.
But it always reminds me:

You don’t need to escape.
You just need to return.

Return to your breath.
Return to your body.
Return to this moment.
Because this moment—right now—is enough.

If You’re Struggling Today

Don’t try to transcend it.
Just breathe.
Close your eyes.
Feel the ground beneath you.

Say gently to yourself:

“Here I am.
And here is okay.”

That’s presence.
And it’s available to you now.
Not when you’ve healed.
Not when you’ve finished.
Now.

This is how we come home.

Not through force.
But through presence.

Not by being perfect—
But by being here.
